Remodeling the bathroom can be especially difficult task, since most bathroom projects involve gutting the space and starting over. Homeowners who venture down this road are often faced with a tough choice: bath tub or shower? There are a few things to consider when making this choice.
At the top of the list is functionality. If the bathroom is the primary or only one in the house, consider whether anyone in the family prefers bathing over showering. Not having access to a bath tub may leave the family wanting in the future. Should you decide a bath tub is necessary, you can chose between a fiberglass unit that includes a shower head or a more elegant pedestal tub. Remember that a pedestal tub does not normally have a shower head.
Space constraints are also a major consideration. You might be opening up an existing bathroom or adding a second one and need to maximize space. Stand-up shower units are ideal for this scenario. The footprint of a typical unit is 36″ x 36″. Some are even smaller by a few inches. A shower unit can be tucked into a corner making the best use of the total space.
In some cases the fiberglass bath tub and shower combination would be the best choice. It provides both the tub and shower head at a reasonable cost. It also provides the functionality that many people prefer in their primary bathroom. Low-end units that will fit comfortably into most bathrooms are widely available, while more costly and custom-made units can be found at specialty stores or ordered through your local retailer.

A “p-shaped” Shower Bath is a good option. It comes with a discreet shower screen which is needed in baths with overhead shower fittings. No nasty shower curtains !!
