Feng Shui is the practice of arranging one’s environment to allow for the free flow of energy, known as Chi. Originating in ancient China, the principles of Feng Shui may be used within the home to increase happiness, health and prosperity.

Clear Clutter

To allow energy to flow freely, it is essential to dispense with clutter. This free flow of energy, or Chi, is especially critical in the space beneath the bed. To maximise the flow of Chi within your home, work toward eliminating clutter and freeing up as much space as possible.

Allow Air Flow

Outside air brings Chi into the home. Open windows, at least briefly, each day. This removes stale Chi and allows fresh energy to circulate throughout the home. Especially in the bedroom, fresh Chi is important in achieving a balanced and harmonious life.

Create Balance

Feng Shui, literally translated as wind and water, creates harmony by reflecting the balance of nature. Introduce natural balance into the home by adding an indoor fountain or fish tank to complement the flow of air. If necessary, reposition the fountain or tank until the desired results are achieved.

Further Study

There are five elements included in Feng Shui theory – wood, fire, earth, metal and water. These elements, which are represented by specific colours, can be combined in various ways to produce beneficial interactions. Once clutter is gone and Chi is flowing freely, undertake further study of Feng Shui. Implement other principles to bring about ever-increasing levels of happiness, health and prosperity.
