Live More Ecologically Every Day

Choosing a lifestyle that has the least possible negative impact on the earth’s dwindling resources makes good sense. Strive to use resources wisely and eliminate waste whenever possible. There is much that each individual can do on a daily basis to live more ecologically.

Buy Quality

When purchasing any new item, consider quality along with price. From an ecological standpoint, it is much better to pay more for a durable, high-quality item than to buy a less expensive alternative that may soon need to be replaced. This often makes good economic sense over the long-term, as well. To even further reduce the use of resources, look for second-hand alternatives or repurpose an existing item to meet the current need.

Use Renewable Resources

Strive to use renewable resources when possible. Wool and bamboo are prime examples of renewable resources that are used to produce a variety of consumer products. When contemplating a purchase, research the manufacturing process and choose items which are produced ecologically.

Take Care of Possessions

Reduce the number and variety of new items that are needed. Regardless of type, extend the life of all objects through proper care. Protect belongings from damage caused by carelessness or neglect. Perform recommended maintenance to keep possessions in top condition.

Cultivate Ecological Personal Habits

Walk when possible to conserve valuable resources and improve health. Eat locally grown produce to ensure freshness and eliminate the need to transport foods commercially. Look for ways to recycle, reuse and repurpose every day. Remember that living more ecologically is a journey rather than a destination.
