Flowers as an Element of Interior Design

With their many varieties, colors and display methods, flowers truly enhance a room’s décor. Interior designers often consider a room’s style when selecting flowers as a design element. Arrangements of roses, hydrangeas and daisies, add warmth and charm to more traditional décors. Calla lilies, gerberas, orchids and floral grasses add a dramatic, natural touch to more contemporary designs. Even a hardy bunch of wildflowers, such as black-eyed Susans, asters or daylilies, can brighten up a room.

Color plays a major role in floral displays. Complimentary colors add a soothing energy to a room, while contrasting colors add a splash of excitement. Colorful blossoms add a touch of flair to a room with a neutral palette. In addition, creative floral arrangements of a single variety in one or more colors, or an assortment of different varieties in a single color can add consistency and structure to a room’s design.
